Biomedical Engineering Entrepreneurship Academy

There are still spaces available for the Biomedical Engineering Entrepreneurship Academy, so sign up while you can.

The academy is an intensive program integrating lecture, exercises, and individual projects. Participants work to identify, design, and validate market opportunities for their research.

Biomedicine. Biotechnology. Engineering. Innovation. Impact. Commercialization.

The Biomedical and Engineering Entrepreneurship Academy (BMEA) is an intensive commercialization program for researchers who want to identify, design and validate market opportunities for their research.

Learn how to move advances in biomedicine and engineering out of the lab and into the world—where they can make a real difference.

The 2015 academy is a collaboration co-sponsored by the UC Davis Biomedical Engineering Department, College of Biological Sciences, School of Medicine, School of Veterinary Medicine, Office of Research and the Child Family Institute for Innovation and Entrepreneurship.

The School of Medicine is sponsoring BMEA as a part of their FUTURE program, an NIH fund initiative aimed at facilitating career exploration for biomedical graduate students and postdoctoral scholars.

Priority enrollment is given to students, faculty and postdocs in the School of Veterinary Medicine, School of Medicine, College of Engineering and College of Biological Sciences. See application process for more information.

The academy includes:

  • A three-day intensive on exploring the market opportunities surrounding your ideas and your research;
  • Daily seminars and interactive sessions taught by leading industry executives, investors, and entrepreneurs;
  • The tools to communicate the broader potential of your research and develop a presentation pitch about your idea;
  • Mentoring sessions with industry executives and investors in the biomedical engineering arena;
  • The opportunity to develop a network of professionals in the biomedical and bioengineering fields who can help mentor and connect you as you move forward
