Kyriacos Athanasiou has been named to the University of Thessaly, Greece, Board of Trustees. Founded in 1984, The University of Thessaly is known for its excellent research performance and outstanding scientific achievements. This is the first board of trustees at any Greek university.
“The educational system in Greece is currently under attack, owing to the dire financial situation of the country. Universities in particular have been under duress, despite the fact that the academic level of instruction is high and despite the fact that academic faculties in Greece are comprised of outstanding and accomplished individuals. I am pleased by my election to the board because I believe that I may be able to contribute effectively in restructuring the University of Thessaly system and pointing it to a direction of ascent toward excellence,” said Professor Athanasiou.
