Our research group is developing tools for image segmentation and image registration of anatomical images such as those from CT and MRI. A specific emphasis is on quasi-rigid registration where rigid bodies such as bones are registered rigidly while soft tissue components are made to warp in a non-rigid manner. resolution PET/CT scanner for imaging human extremities. We are using the registration techniques to derive imaging biomarkers such as contrast enhancement or change in tumor size, and for quantifying fat content and metabolism of muscle.
