BME Advising
The BME Undergraduate Advisor assists students with course selection, schedule planning, hold removal, degree checks, GE advising, research positions, and planning for graduate/professional school, internships, careers, as well as general advice and support. Please email [email protected] to contact your advising team.
Faculty Advisors in each specialization are available for specific questions regarding elective courses, research opportunities, graduate school and careers.
Virtual Front Desk
The BME Department holds Virtual Front Desk Appointments via Zoom, every Wednesday and Thursday from 10:00am-12:00pm.
Please be aware that these appointments are drop-in based and students will be seen in a first come, first served order. These appointments are held to review quick scheduling questions and check graduation status for Seniors.
Change of Major requests will not be completed during Virtual Front Desk. Any Change of Major inquiries must be made by scheduling an individual meeting with the BME Undergraduate Advisor by emailing [email protected].

Mandatory Advising
To assist students in completing their program in a timely manner, and to ensure that students are well prepared for courses, annual advising is mandatory in the College of Engineering. Advising holds are placed on a student’s account once a year.
To clear these advising holds, students must meet with their advisor before the Hold deadline, which can be found on their Home page in Oasis.
In preparation for your appointment, please save a draft Academic Plan for the next 3 quarters in Oasis. Uncleared holds will affect registration and schedule changes.
Prioritizing for Fall 2025:
Seniors — You must come to one Virtual Front Desk appointment during the quarter to review graduation requirements. (VFD held on Wednesdays & Thursdays 10:00AM-12:00PM). VFD required, unless time conflicts with courses, then schedule an appointment.
Sophomores — You must come to one individual meeting during the quarter, to ensure all requirements are set for spring quarter (Focus on BIM 20 and BIM 20L). VFD or schedule an advising appointment.
Prioritizing for Winter 2026:
Juniors — You must come to one individual advising appointment to ensure academic plan going into the final year of courses. VFD or schedule an advising appointment.
Prioritizing for Spring 2026:
First Years — You must come to one individual advising appointment, emphasis on reviewing all requirements for first year courses and going into the second year. VFD or schedule an advising appointment.
Failure to complete mandatory advising appointments will lead to an academic hold blocking registration.
