Application Materials
Applications for the 2026-2027 school year are now open! The following items are required to apply:
Your application to Graduate Studies must be completed online; go to Graduate Admissions for instructions. The application includes both a Statement of Purpose and a Personal Statement.
The Statement of Purpose highlights your academic preparation and motivation; interests, specializations, and career goals; and fit for pursuing graduate study at UC Davis.
The Personal Statement is an opportunity to share the unique background, experiences, perspectives, and abilities that you will bring to a graduate program. Describe how your background and life experiences shaped your academic and/or professional path and influenced your decision to pursue a graduate degree.
Additional and supplemental information will not be accepted. Please include all pertinent information in the online Graduate Application.
Academic Transcripts
UC Davis requires academic records from each college-level institution you have attended, including transcripts from study abroad programs and community college courses. You will be instructed to upload scanned copies of your transcripts after you have submitted your online application. Unofficial transcripts are acceptable when applying. Official transcripts will be required from admitted students who enroll in the program.
Two Letters of Recommendation
Select recommenders who will enthusiastically support your application to graduate school and can provide examples of your academic, research, and project development capabilities. Recommendations from university faculty and employers are encouraged, but others may also be relevant. Letters of Recommendation must be submitted electronically through the online application.
Recommendations will not be accepted by mail or e-mail. Recommendations through third-party platforms like Interfolio will not be accepted.
CV/Resume
You will be instructed to upload a copy of your CV/resume. You can use this to share more about your professional, volunteer, and academic experiences that show you are prepared for the program.
Examination Scores
GRE scores are not required and will not be reviewed. English Language Examination scores (TOEFL, IELTS) must be provided for applicants whose primary language is not English or whose degree is from a university at which the language of instruction was not English.
Application Fee
The application fee can be found on the UC Davis Graduate Studies website.
UC Davis Graduate Studies offers application fee waivers only to applicants who participated in one or more of the eligible graduate preparation programs. Fee waivers are not available for any other reason (financial need, participation in programs, etc.). View the list of eligible graduate preparation programs to determine if you are eligible for a fee waiver.
