Advising for New Students

All first year students must complete Placement Exams!

Newly Admitted Biomedical Engineering Students

  • Step 1: Complete Aggie 101 
  • All incoming freshmen and transfer students must complete Aggie 101. This online program will provide essential information and introduce you to key resources at UC Davis. Aggie 101 will be accessible starting mid-May for first year students and mid-June for transfer students.
  • Step 2: Complete Aggie Advising Modules in Canvas 
  • All incoming freshmen and transfer students must also complete the Aggie Advising Modules in Canvas. During this module you will review how your AP/IB or community college credit counts at UC Davis and learn how to select courses and build a balanced schedule for your first quarter. You'll also find resources and tips to help you navigate the university, explore your interests, and ensure your first quarter is a success. More information will be provided after Aggie 101 opens.
  • Step 3: Attend an Advising Session
  • First Year Students and Transfer Students:

     

    Your personalized schedule will be created and uploaded to Oasis on July 15th, 2025


    Go to OASIS > Forms & Petitions > First Quarter Plan to view your individualized 1st quarter plan.

    If you have additional questions that were not covered in Aggie 101 or Aggie Advising, your major advisors will be offering appointments throughout the summer. An appointment is not required.


    Appointments will be available for Students on July 16th, 2025. 


    How to Schedule an Appointment:
    - Visit the appointment system and login with your UC Davis ID and Passphrase
    - Select "Biomedical Engineering" for the calendar to see our availability. You will not be able to see our availability if you have not completed Aggie 101 and your Aggie Advising Modules. Please note that appointments will not start until July 16th.
    - Once you have confirmed your information, you will be shown a calendar with available appointments. Choose the day and time that works for you. You may need to click forward to additional weeks for open appointments depending on demand.
    A confirmation email will be sent to your UC Davis email account. All appointments will be held via Zoom. 

  • Step 4: Register for Courses
  • After you’ve planned out your first quarter, you should be ready to register for courses using Schedule Builder during your assigned pass time. Watch this video to learn more about Schedule Builder.
  • Step 5: Attend Aggie Orientation 
  • Sign up for Aggie Orientation. This program is your opportunity to start building community networks of support, find resources, and begin your life on campus.

  • Review the information in Aggie 101 and Aggie Advising
  • All students must have completed Aggie 101 and the Aggie Advising modules before scheduling an appointment with us.
