Job Opportunity: Louie Lab Seeks Postdoctoral Scholar

Louie Lab Seeks Postdoc (In Vivo Imaging, Contrast Agents, Anticoagulation)

The Louie lab in the Department of Biomedical Engineering at UC Davis is seeking motivated, intelligent, self-starters for postdoctoral positions that are part of an NIH project to develop targeted anticoagulants for treatment in atrial fibrillation.  (http://grantome.com/grant/NIH/R01-HL137887-01A1) Antithrombotic therapy is a critical component in the management of atrial fibrillation patients. However, all current therapies suffer from risks of off-site bleeding. We are developing novel, anticoagulants that can overcome these risks. This is in interdisciplinary, collaborative project that can involve nanoparticle synthesis, analytical chemistry, in vivo small animal MRI, and biochemical assays of anticoagulation. We are looking for individuals with a strong background in one of these areas and a willingness to learn about the others.

The ideal candidate will have:

  • PhD in Chemistry, Biological Sciences, Bioengineering, Imaging Physics, or related field
  • Strong interest in Magnetic Resonance Imaging
  • Experience with preclinical murine models would be viewed favorably
  • Prior knowledge and experience in molecular imaging is helpful
  • Ability to work in a highly collaborative, multidisciplinary environment and strong communication and interpersonal skills are required

Applicant should e-mail the following to Dr. Angelique Louie (aylouie@ucdavis.edu):

  • Cover letter containing a brief research summary and statement of career goals
  • CV, including links to authored publications
  • Names of 3 references
