Dr. Saiz’s Modeling of Biological Networks and Systems Theraputics Laboratory develops and applies computational approaches to characterize the properties of protein-protein and protein-DNA complexes and their effects on cellular processes. Her lab’s current projects include studying molecular dynamics on the atomic scale and applying network methods to investigate mammalian gene regulation and signal transduction. Her laboratory is also developing computational methods and tools to guide the development of targeted therapies. The team has already successfully applied them to identify potential therapeutic targets in the TGF-β pathway for mutations of the pathway components in human cancer.
