Katherine Ferrara Receives Distinguished Engineering Alumni Medal

The UC Davis College of Engineering will present Katherine Ferrara a 2017 Distinguished Engineering Alumni Medal Friday evening, January 19. Dr. Ferrara is a distinguished professor of biomedical engineering at UC Davis whose research has pioneered using ultrasound to image cancer and heart disease.

UC Davis establishes alliance of excellence in biophotonics with German Leibniz Institute for Photonic Technologies

The University of California, Davis, and the Leibniz Institute for Photonic Technologies (Leibniz-IPHT), in Jena, Germany, have entered an agreement of cooperation to establish the Jena-Davis (JEDIS) Alliance of Excellence in Biophotonics — designed to promote North American-German cooperation on research and development in the field of biophotonics.

Emilie Roncali receives pilot grant to improve liver cancer treatment

Emilie Roncali, an Assistant Project Scientist in the Cherry Lab, has received an Institutional Research Grant Pilot Funding from the UC Davis Comprehensive Cancer Center to investigate the effectiveness of combined radioemobolization therapy and PET imaging for liver cancer.

Jamal Lewis Receives Prestigious NIH MIRA Grant

Jamal Lewis has received a National Institutes of Health of Maximizing Investigators’ Research Award (MIRA) for New and Early Stage Investigators. The grant, which will support the Lewis lab’s work to understand and exploit the phenomenon of vomocytosis, is $1.9 million over the next five years.
