Qi Lab Receives Grant to Develop Tools for Wearable Brain PET Imager

A multi-institution team comprised of Jinyi Qi’s lab, West Virginia University (lead institution), GE Global Research, and the University of Washington has been awarded $1.5m to develop a wearable PET scanner for imaging the human brain in motion. The project, “Imaging the Brain in Motion: The Ambulatory Micro-Dose, Wearable PET Brain Imager”, will engineer a wearable PET scanner that images activity of the human brain in motion – for example, while taking a walk in the park. The Qi Lab’s role will be to develop tools for simulation, image reconstruction, evaluation and identification of the optimal practical design of the wearable brain PET imager. The grant is part of the NIH awards for the BRAIN Initiative research.
