UC Davis establishes alliance of excellence in biophotonics with German Leibniz Institute for Photonic Technologies

The University of California, Davis, and the Leibniz Institute for Photonic Technologies (Leibniz-IPHT), in Jena, Germany, have entered an agreement of cooperation to establish the Jena-Davis (JEDIS) Alliance of Excellence in Biophotonics — designed to promote North American-German cooperation on research and development in the field of biophotonics.

Jamal Lewis Joins BME Faculty

Dr. Jamal Lewis will join the Biomedical Engineering Department at UC Davis as an Assistant Professor this Fall.

Dr. Lewis received his Ph.D. degree in 2012, and comes to UC Davis following a postdoctoral fellowship in the laboratory of Dr. Benjamin Keselowsky in the Department of Biomedical Engineering at University of Florida.

Scott Simon and Laura Marcu Join NIH Study Sections

Scott Simon and Laura Marcu have accepted invitations to serve on NIH Study Sections. 

Dr. Simon will serve as a member of the Musculoskeletal Tissue Engineering Study Section, Center for Scientific Review. Dr. Marcu serve as a member of the Biomedical Imaging Technology-A Study Section, Center for Scientific Review.

Pan Lab's Non-Wetting Fabric Mentioned on Capitol Hill

Non-wetting fabric invented in Tingrui Pan’s MiNI Lab at UC Davis Biomedical Engineering was the centerpiece of U.S. Rep. Jerry McNerney’s plea in Congress for continued federal funding of scientific research this morning.
